SwipeForMovie is designed so a group can find common ground without exposing anyone’s individual taste. This page explains what data the service uses and what happens to it.
Short-lived by default
Live rooms expire after 24 hours and room history expires after 3 days.
Protected access
Room and history data is available only after membership or account checks.

This Privacy Notice applies to SwipeForMovie at swipeformovie.com. It covers the website, live rooms, sign-in, room history, and related service operations.
Data we use
Account data
If you sign in, we use the minimum account information needed to recognize you and connect your profile photo, rooms, history, and preferences.
Room and activity data
We process the name you use in a room, the selected movie or series format, the room code, readiness, room membership, likes and passes, matches, and the title details needed to show and save short-lived history.
Recommendation preferences
For each active participant, we keep ordered catalog title identifiers for the latest likes and passes so the room can adapt its shared deck. These choices stay attached to the short-lived room rather than a long-term recommendation profile.
Technical and security data
We process limited request and device information when it is needed to keep rooms working, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures.
Usage analytics
We use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to understand how the website is used and improve it. These services may process page visits, interactions, and general browser, device, and location information.
Why we use it
- To create rooms, verify membership, and keep participants synchronized.
- To record private swipes and calculate unanimous matches.
- To provide short-lived room history to signed-in members and recent guests.
- To reduce repeatedly passed titles and improve the order and variety of solo and shared room recommendations.
- To secure the service, apply rate limits, and investigate technical problems.
- To measure website usage and improve the product.
- To load the movie and series information shown in the product.
We do not sell personal data or use individual swipes for advertising.
What other participants see
People in your room can see your chosen display name, profile photo when enabled, whether you are ready, and whether you remain in the room. They cannot see your individual likes or passes.
Each participant’s private room swipes can influence the shared order of later titles, but the service does not identify whose choices affected a recommendation.
When everyone currently in the room likes the same title, the title is revealed as a group match. Match history may be available to eligible room members during the retention period.
How long data is kept
24 hoursLive rooms and their operational membership and swipe data expire.
1 hourGuest access to saved history expires. Guest-specific saved swipes are removed after the guest is no longer active.
3 daysSaved room history expires from the room’s creation time.
Account lifetimeSigned-in recommendation preferences and swipe events remain until the account is deleted or you ask us to erase them.
Expired security records are removed automatically. A host can also permanently delete an ended room’s history from the History page before the automatic deadline. Some records may be kept longer only when required for account security or legal obligations.
Your choices
You can leave a live room, sign out, ask the host to delete an ended room’s history, or ask us to reset your recommendation preferences. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data.
